Pool Screen Enclosures in Central Florida

Southern Construction designs, permits and builds new pool cages across Volusia, Seminole, Orange and Osceola counties. Most of our cages are dome style, every new cage is engineered and permitted, and every screen is American-made Phifer. We are a licensed Structural Aluminum and Screen Enclosure Contractor (SCC131154698) and have been family owned and operated since 2005. New enclosures are priced by the square foot after a free on-site measure. Call 386-574-7567 or request a free estimate.

Why Build a Pool Enclosure

  • Less pool cleaning: the screen keeps leaves, debris and pests out of the water.
  • A pool safety barrier: under Florida law a screen enclosure is an approved pool barrier option, when doors to the pool area self-close and self-latch.
  • More usable space: a screened pool deck you can use without bugs, most of the year.
  • Shade from Florida sun: screen cuts glare and heat on the deck.

Pool Cage Styles

  • Dome: our most common cage. The roof slopes gently to the center for a clean, modern profile.
  • Mansard: flat in the middle with sloped sides, for a roomy, open feel.
  • Gable: a pitched, A-frame roof with a center ridge. It can stand alone or attach to the house.
  • Hip: sloped on all sides, a common match for Florida hip-roof homes.

What Goes Into Every New Pool Cage

  • Site-specific engineering to Florida Building Code wind requirements for your address.
  • The building permit, which we pull, plus HOA paperwork when your community requires it.
  • Aluminum framing with Phifer 18×14 screen standard. Pet Screen, 20×20 no-see-um and Florida Glass privacy screen are available.
  • Doors included in the enclosure price, with self-closing, self-latching hardware when the cage is your pool barrier.
  • Our 1-year workmanship warranty, plus the manufacturer’s warranty.

Building a Pool Too?

We are also a Certified Residential Pool/Spa Contractor (CPC1461713). If you are adding a fiberglass pool or a concrete pool, we can build the pool, deck and cage on one schedule with one contractor.

Pool Enclosures by County

American-Made Phifer Screen on Every Job

We install Phifer screen, woven in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, not imported mesh. In Phifer’s published testing, its 18×14 Pool & Patio Screen tested at 170/125 warp/fill strength, while an imported 18×14 tested at 88/85, weaker than Phifer’s own window screen. Stronger screen lasts longer in Florida sun and storms. See the full comparison on our screen repair page.

FAQs

How much does a new pool enclosure cost?

New pool cages are priced by the square foot of wall and roof area, so the price depends on the size, height and style of the cage. We measure for free and give you a written quote.

Do I need a permit for a pool enclosure?

Yes. A new pool enclosure needs engineering and a building permit. We prepare the drawings and pull the permit.

Can a pool cage be my pool safety barrier?

Yes. Florida law lists a screen enclosure as an approved barrier option, as long as doors to the pool area meet the self-closing and self-latching rules. In Volusia County, an enclosure used as the barrier needs sealed engineering, which we provide.

Which pool cage style is best?

Dome cages are our most popular style. Mansard and gable roofs give more headroom, and a hip roof can match your house. We show you options in 3D before you decide.

Do you build the pool and the enclosure?

Yes. We hold pool, enclosure and general contractor licenses, so one company can build the pool, deck and cage.

My cage is old. Should I replace it or rescreen it?

If the aluminum frame is sound, a full rescreen costs far less. Replace the cage when the frame is bent, corroded or loose at the footer.
