Desert Springs Pool & Spa with Rico Rock Waterfall in Deltona, FL

San Juan Desert Springs fiberglass pool and spa with LED lights in a bronze screen enclosure
Finished at dusk: spa jets on, LEDs lit, inside the bronze screen enclosure

This Deltona pool with a waterfall started on the porch. Before any digging, we built the homeowner an elevated back porch. Then we came back and set a San Juan Desert Springs fiberglass pool with an attached spa. We added a Rico Rock waterfall and custom LEDs in the pool, spa and fountain, poured a concrete deck finished in acrylic knockdown, and built a bronze pool screen enclosure over the whole space. Southern Construction built it in 2020.

How we built it

  1. Elevated porch first. Before the pool, we built the elevated back porch, so the pool deck could be laid out to meet it.
  2. Excavation. We dug the hole, cleared the roots and set the grade with a laser level.
  3. Shell set. The excavator lowered the San Juan Desert Springs shell into place. We leveled it, plumbed the pool and spa, and backfilled.
  4. Deck forms. Forms went in around the pool and out to the porch.
  5. Waterfall. We set the Rico Rock waterfall at the edge of the pool, with its own custom LED.
  6. Concrete and acrylic knockdown. We poured the deck and finished it in acrylic knockdown, which stays cooler underfoot and gives better grip than bare concrete.
  7. Screen enclosure. We built a bronze aluminum screen enclosure over the pool and deck, then filled the pool and started it up.

Why a waterfall and LEDs are worth it on a Deltona pool

  • Sound: a waterfall masks street and neighbor noise, which matters on a typical Deltona lot
  • Night use: in Florida summers, evenings are when people actually swim, and color LEDs make the pool and waterfall the focal point after dark
  • Fiberglass: the Desert Springs shell comes with the spa built in, so there is no separate spa to form, and the gelcoat stays smooth for decades
