Fiberglass pool with deck jets and new landscaping in Deltona, Florida
Landscaped and running, with the deck jets on

In this Deltona backyard we installed a San Juan Desert Springs fiberglass pool with an attached spa, added a gas heater so the spa is hot year-round, and poured a concrete deck with a cantilever edge and acrylic knockdown finish out to the covered lanai. Color LED lights, deck jets and landscape lighting finish it at night. Southern Construction handled the whole job, start to finish, in 8 weeks (2019).

How we built it

  1. Shell set. The San Juan Desert Springs shell went into a fenced Deltona backyard and was set level on a prepared base.
  2. Plumbing. Main drain, skimmer, returns, spa jets and deck jet lines were run and stubbed up before backfill.
  3. Tile. Porcelain waterline tile went on around the pool, with glass mosaic on the spa's spillover dam.
  4. Deck forms. Cantilever forms went around the shell edge so the deck rolls over the top of the pool wall.
  5. Concrete pour. The deck was pumped and finished in one pour, tied in to the covered lanai, then saw-cut for control joints.
  6. Deck finish and equipment. The deck got an acrylic knockdown finish, cooler underfoot than bare concrete, and the gas heater and pool equipment were set and connected.
  7. Startup. Fill, start-up, LED pool lights, deck jets and landscape lighting on.

Why the Desert Springs

  • Pool and spa in one shell: the spa is molded in, so there’s no separate spa to build
  • Tanning ledge and benches built into the shell
