Pool Cage Rescreening in Central Florida
Southern Construction rescreens pool cages, screen porches and patio enclosures across Volusia, Seminole, Orange and Osceola counties. A full rescreen puts new American-made Phifer screen on every wall and roof panel while your aluminum frame stays in place. Rescreens are priced by the square foot of screen after a free on-site measure, and you get a written quote. We have been family owned and operated since 2005. Call 386-574-7567 or text photos of your cage to 386-845-8776.
Signs Your Pool Cage Needs a Full Rescreen
- The screen looks chalky or faded and feels stiff.
- Panels tear when you press on them, not just where something hit them.
- Several panels are torn, sagging or pulled out of the channel.
- Roof panels sag, or blew out in the last storm.
- The spline is cracked or popping out along the frame.
- You want a different screen, such as no-see-um or pet screen, everywhere.
If only a few panels are damaged and the rest of the screen is still flexible, a panel repair costs less. See our screen repair prices, from $145 per panel.
Repair, Rescreen or Replace?
| Option | When it fits | How it is priced |
|---|---|---|
| Panel repair | A few torn panels, the rest of the screen is healthy | $145 to $195 per panel, installed |
| Full rescreen | Screen is brittle, faded or torn in many places; the frame is sound | By the square foot of screen, after a free measure |
| New enclosure | The frame is bent, corroded or loose at the footer | By the square foot, engineered and permitted |
What Every Rescreen Includes
- Old screen and spline removed from every panel you choose to rescreen.
- New Phifer screen, 18×14 bronze unless you pick another type.
- New spline, rolled tight so panels stay flat.
- An inspection of the frame, screws, anchors and hurricane tie-downs. If anything is corroded, loose or damaged, we show you and quote the fix before we replace it.
- Our 1-year workmanship warranty, plus the screen manufacturer’s warranty.
Screen Choices
- Phifer 18×14 bronze: our standard, and what most Central Florida pool cages use.
- Phifer 20×20 No-See-Um: a tighter weave that stops no-see-ums and small insects, with slightly less airflow.
- Phifer Pet Screen: heavy-duty screen that resists dogs and cats, popular on lower panels and doors.
- Phifer “Florida Glass”: a vinyl-laminated privacy screen for knee walls. It is a screen product, not glass.
How Rescreen Pricing Works
Every cage is a different size, so we price full rescreens by the square foot of wall and roof screen. The things that move the price are the size and height of the cage, the screen type, how easy the cage is to reach, and any frame repairs it needs. We measure for free and give you a written quote. Need a quick number for a few panels instead? Panel repairs are priced from photos.
Screen Repair Prices

| Full pool cage rescreen | Priced by the square foot after a free on-site measure |

Rescreening Before and After Storm Season
Brittle screen is the first thing to go in high wind, and blown-out roof panels are the most common call we get after a storm. Rescreening an old cage before hurricane season means fewer emergency repairs later. Because Phifer weaves its screen in Alabama, we are not waiting on overseas shipments when everyone needs a rescreen at once.
American-Made Phifer Screen on Every Job
We install Phifer screen, woven in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, not imported mesh. In Phifer’s published testing, its 18×14 Pool & Patio Screen tested at 170/125 warp/fill strength, while an imported 18×14 tested at 88/85, weaker than Phifer’s own window screen. Stronger screen lasts longer in Florida sun and storms. See the full comparison on our screen repair page.

FAQs
How much does it cost to rescreen a pool cage?
Full rescreens are priced by the square foot of wall and roof screen, so the price depends on the size of your cage, the screen type and any frame repairs. We measure for free and give you a written quote.
Is it cheaper to repair panels or rescreen the whole cage?
If only a few panels are torn and the rest of the screen is flexible, panel repairs are cheaper, from $145 per panel. If the screen is brittle everywhere, new panels next to old ones keep tearing, and a full rescreen is the better buy.
Do I need a permit to rescreen my pool cage?
A rescreen usually does not need a permit. Structural repairs and new enclosures do, and we pull the permit when one is required.
Can I change my screen type when I rescreen?
Yes. A rescreen is the best time to switch to 20×20 no-see-um screen, Pet Screen on the lower panels, or Florida Glass privacy screen on knee walls.
Do you rescreen screen porches and lanais too?
Yes. We rescreen pool cages, screen porches, lanais and patio enclosures, plus screen doors and window screens.
Can you rescreen a cage another company built?
Yes. We rescreen existing aluminum enclosures no matter who built them, as long as the frame is sound.
What screen brand do you use?
Phifer, on every job, woven in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Are you the same company as Southern Screen?
Yes. Southern Screen Repair LLC now does business as Southern Construction. Same family, same phone number.
